retreatCan you believe I have lived in Atlanta for as many years as I have and had never been to Reynold’s Plantation? I was there for a week last month and what a treat it was! The National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) had their annual retreat close to home this year which made it extra special for many of us. I was on staff working most of the time but still soaked up lots of great information and best of all saw a lot of photographer-friends I only get to see in person once a year. If you are a photographer specializing in children (newborn/families) or seniors, plan on attending one of these “Retreats” in the future. georgia-photography atlanta-senior-lightThere were Styled Senior Shoots with Amanda Holloway, Sarah Lane and Tash Haynes. An adorable Valentine’s Day theme that our models rocked! Dan Brouillette demonstrated lighting for everyone and showed his expertise.   We Periscoped a lot during the week for NAPCP and and Tash had these girls on the spot! They were thrown into the fire of Periscope but had fun watching the reply of themselves on my phone. 🙂 georgia-photographersNAPCP Prides themselves on lots of small details. georgia-photographer FOGo-BlogThe view of the Lake was amazing.

I hung out over my balcony and tried to take shots like the one above at sunrise and sunset most days using my Fuji X100.

I missed my family while I was gone but I have to admit, re-entry to life outside of the Ritz Carlton was pretty tough. It was easy to get used to everything (especially food) being prepared for you. And you can’t beat the easily accessible spa!

family marietta family mariettaSharing a session from this summer in Marietta.  It was this little guy’s 3 year old pictures and his Mom wanted to capture his great love of trains.  He was super serious and you could see the wheels turning in his head at all times.  My boys loved trains and I miss those days when you were always aware anytime you saw trains or even the tracks. I loved this one’s curiosity and luckily Dad was very diligent in following and keeping up with him. We took advantage of the occasion to capture some family portraits while we were at it. It was great to see who this family has become since their last professional photo session. family mariettaThe picture below is one of my favorites of this year. I love the relationship between Mom and daughter and I’m glad I was with them in the moment to capture this. It is “so them.” 🙂 family marietta

Father’s Day Fun

I don’t always get around to sharing all of my sessions online so in honor of Father’s Day I went back a few months to find one showcasing Dad. The images I captured definitely showed all personalities in this family with Dad being thoughtful as well as goofy and silly with the kids. What great memories to remember Dad rolling in the grass and having fun.

We saw Pixar’s Inside Out on Friday when it opened. Not to give too much away, but when the main character, Riley, lost her goofball-ness I teared up a little. Men seem to hold on to their goofball personalities more than most ladies and it is fun to see how being a Dad can really bring it out of them.

As a side note: We saw Inside Out at the newly remodeled AMC at Parkway Point. I probably would have been a fan of the reserved seating had I been anywhere except the first row.  Two thumbs up for the reclining seats and lumbar pillow. I’m a fan of few animated movies but this one was pretty good. If you cried at Toy Story 3, you will probably tear up (or weep) with this one too. I would say that it’s just me but the Mom next to me was wiping her eyes a LOT.  A good movie to see this summer especially since you can take the whole family.

Happy Father’s Day!

If you don’t have big Father’s Day Fun planned IMDb has a list of the best movies to watch with Dad. Hide away inside and take in one of these Father-Flicks here. Field of Dreams is #1 and that is tolerable although I would still pick anything with Will Ferrell first!

All in the family sistersNew Baby Sister | Love

family sistersA new baby sister has finally arrived.  Welcome to the newest member of this family!  She is beautiful and very smiley with a loving big sister to show her the ropes and give lots of kisses. Like all second babies, she is a very good sport and doesn’t flinch a bit when her big sister is hugging her tight. sister love baby sister new baby sisterMom is handling two babies at the same time so well (whether she realizes it or not). Whew! I imagine exhaustion has really set in since we last saw each other. I’m glad I was there to capture so many smiles and kisses. That is what we hope to remember from those early days. sisterBig Sister was oh-so-sweet and a busy bee.  She was asleep by the time I was leaving!

A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.

baby boy wild thing costumeIf you want to know where the wild things are…it’s right here!  I’m catching up on some session-shares this month that I failed to post at the end of 2014 and hoping 2015 is off with a bang for you! family boy costume holidayIs this little one the cutest or what? With a Halloween costume this fantastic, we had to get a great picture of him dressed up even if he was about to outgrow it.  A great Etsy find by Mom based on the book Where the Wild Things Are. baby boy outside red family outside red baby family with baby coldThis session was one of my last of 2014.  I could only fit them in on a very cold a frigid morning – thank goodness for some warm sun that day.  Babies don’t usually mind the cold too much and the parents were dressed for the cold so it was awesome.  Don’t you know they looked perfect on their Christmas Cards this year! Best of all they have now have a beautiful wall gallery to show moments from this fun day so they can always remember their family at such a special time.  The framed gallery incorporates images from this day, their wedding and newborn session with a plan to grow so they can add other milestone moments or hopefully one day little brother or sister pictures. 🙂  If you have an empty wall, I can make this happen for you easily too.

Happy New Year!
