Looks like the perfect Christmas Card picture to me.
Or Maybe this is the perfect picture for a Christmas Card. You have to show off the Galaxie.

It is always so bittersweet when Seniors go off to college. I know it is a big transition for everyone in the family.

Adding the family dog is a MUST for Senior (and family) pictures!

Cool Kids

I captured some pictures of this High School Senior and his 1966 Galaxie 500 that he has been fixing up. He is off to college now and has a bright future ahead of him. It is always a big change in families especially when the first child moves away. Bittersweet. I think his sister may actually miss him???

Take note of Mom’s bright yellow top. I have had several sessions with yellow and it always photographs so well especially when you are out in nature. It looks great against browns and greens and really compliments the ones in blue.

Where to learn family Photography

where to learn family photography: online!

I was just interviewed at Shootalong about this picture of my children.  Shootalong is a great place for parents learning photography and how to use their fancy cameras so they take better pictures of their own children. When you don’t have a professional photographer around, take the best pictures of your family and children as you can by learning the fundamentals and good techniques.

You can read what I had to say about capturing this Christmas Card picture which now hangs very large on the wall of my home: HERE.

Thanks, Shootalong!

@lisaphillipsonphotography gives us a glimpse into her Christmas card picture magic… “This picture was a few years ago when I had all three children go into the backyard for an obligatory Christmas card picture. It was late afternoon and they are positioned with the sun going down behind them and under a canopy of trees. There was directional light from the open part of yard to light them from the front.

My children tend to bicker, touch each other too much, act silly and make picture taking pretty difficult. I’m sure your kids are not like this? I had to move quickly before someone stormed off or there were tears from my daughter. I gave them directions on where to stand so the background and my settings were ready to go. This image was when I said “put your arms around each other and act like you love each other.” My oldest grabbed everyone in for a big silly hug and luckily they all laughed and went with it.

I do this in my sessions for other families. I set up for the perfect posed picture, but it is the in between moments and interactions you should try to catch that will be the most meaningful to you. This picture is more special to me and captures my kids as they are more so than the smiling posed picture that I eventually caught. I have this picture framed large on my wall and look at it every single day.”

I love this family and their adorable little boys so I had to share the latest pictures I took of them on a seasonably warm day in Marietta, Georgia. I’m a broken record saying that brothers this age remind me of the years my own boys were little. It was quite a marathon to raise them (as opposed to a sprint) but I hold many fond memories of that time in life and love to see my clients loving it as well. East Cobb Family

Happy New Year!

Brothers and Sisters share from from last year (that is weird to say LAST year). They are all so cute! Thank you to all of you who supported my business this past year. I really appreciate it and look forward to more memorable moments in 2017.

Smyrna Family Photography Session

I’m happy to share this photo session of a great Smyrna, Georgia family.  Their kids mimic mine – 2 boys and one girl. Little Sisters definitely know how to roll with the punches and stand up for themselves. 🙂

Another lovely Christmas Card Picture!

Merry Christmas!

I am a Smyrna, Georgia photographer capturing families in the Atlanta Metro area. You can find more information about how to book a session for your own professional family photos on my contact page HERE.  I use natural light in the portraits I create as opposed to studio lights and backdrops. My favorite backdrop is nature (especially trees).  I would love to be your family photographer so that you will have framed prints of your favorite people hanging on the wall!

smyrna-lantta-family smyrna-family-lanttaI love this beautiful Smyrna family and I’m so happy to share their Fall Session. I love the denim, navy, and purple in these pictures. Navy is always my go-to but I love how purple stands out especially in the Fall. Really cute little girls never hurt either. 🙂  I was happy to capture the “sister-picture” that these sweet girls always want.  At this mornings Upward Basketball game, the little one said “Mrs. Lisa we have gotten lots of compliments on your pictures.” One day when her parents aren’t looking I am going to take her home with me!

I love the timeless feel of black and white.  Always will.

Merry Christmas, Smyrna!
