Clothing for Guys |  Spring & Summer Style for Men

Clothing for Guys:  Trends for Spring 2015 use the annual color set by Pantone which is Marsala.  Men’s Designer, Gents, predicts “Warm undertones of Blue, Gray, Navy and Sangre (Red)” will be the prominent colors of 2015 for men. Think of the athletic, masculine elements of the sport of boxing and the clean lines and colors of Formula One racing. I like this example because it is just as Gents intended, being seasonless, universally classic and not trendy.  It is perfect for now as well as Summer and Fall. See more at Pantone.com.

These colors will translate well for Senior Guy portrait sessions. I love all neutrals with pops of the red. The sporting theme works well and would look great on a baseball field and look more masculine and “cool” than typical Spring and Summer pastels. Senior pictures for guys always look natural and best fit their personality when they are in their sports uniforms or jeans and casual wear.

My oldest son has had a broken arm all month and we are anxious for him to get back on the field in May.

Atlanta Family Clothing Ideas for Spring: Muted shades of pastels will be popular for Spring 2015 with minty Lucite Green being a real stand-out. Green is the color for March for me. Yes, St. Patrick’s Day but I think of the green grass coming back and remember the years of men wearing bright green sports coats at Easter too.  You can easily use green to dress your family for Spring photo sessions. Use a base of jeans or khakis and creams and add a few touches of your color of choice. March and April are wonderful times for family photo shoots especially in the late afternoon. It also gives plenty of time to gift Mother’s Day or Father’s Day portraits.

Monique LHuillier writes for Pantone why Lucite Green and pastels inspire her this year. Even better is her website HERE which is awesome for fashion and clothing ideas.  Don’t miss her wedding stuff if you are a bride-to-be!

I would choose greens as my primary color for Atlanta locations that are more urban using a lot of brick.  I would also like to see it on nature trails where backdrops are many brown trees and leaves. It would not be my favorite in the summer with very green grassy lawns.

Easter is early April this year so Moms of little girls are already shopping for pastel Easter dresses. J. Crew has some unique and gorgeous little girl things in their dress shop.  You may not have time to order a custom dress to be ready for Easter with Hannah Kate however if you follow their Facebook page they often sell ready made dresses and outfits from their overstock. Land’s End and Gymboree have more affordable options.

Scuba Blue and Aquamarine are also “hot” for Spring and these blues universally look great on everyone and are good options. Pastels don’t always look good on everyone (like me!) so move that direction if Easter Egg Colors aren’t your thing! Atlanta Family Clothing Spring

atlanta-family-photography-inspirationFinally a gorgeous warm March day!  Here are some more bright colors to add cheer to your already great day (if you are in the South). These colors are sunny and the textured layers add the warmth you might need on another cooler day in March. This color scheme would be great for outdoor sunset sessions right now when the world is still brown and neutral but has warm light from the afternoon sun.

It is getting really close to Spring so time to start scheduling photo sessions before the best time options are gone. If you have bigger kids, take a great family picture in the Spring and beat the rush for holiday sessions.

For some St. Patrick’s Day cheer: a shamrock craft and keepsake to make with your children from SugarBeeCrafts. Visit them to get the DIY details. I’m a sucker for anything using children’s fingerprints.

I loved meeting this family and documenting them at this time in their lives. It really is a milestone for their youngest going back to school for his last year in preschool.  As teenagers, this is also a special time.  They will be Seniors in High School before they can even believe it.  In not even 3 years the portrait of this family will look very different so glad we captured them this summer.  Lucky for us we enjoyed one of Atlanta’s very cool mornings on this day.  I have lucked out with many of them this summer.  I don’t guess we will ever escape the humidity?    😉

Photographer’s Tip: True that blue is my favorite color.  Besides that, I love the way it pops in a natural setting of greens and browns.  Don’t be afraid of color when dressing for your photo session.  Find a color you look great in that also pops against your location and setting.  Green might not have been the best color in this setting but it would be great in an urban setting with lots of brick.

A quick session share of Jakester. He is 5 now and quite the smart little man.  You can see the wheels turning in his head and I just love his personality.  I also love his little boy smile.  I wonder if he will be missing any teeth this time next year? His Mom is so good about using his birthday as a the milestone to get a portrait made of him.  Birthdays are the perfect way to remember to do that. 4-5 years old is a great age to have a professional photograph of your child.  They start losing teeth and their looks really change the closer they get to first grade.

I think he looks great in both red and blue.  What red, white and blue will you be wearing tomorrow? Picture of 5 years old Atlanta

Take advantage of any 4th of July sales next week and stock up on red clothing.  A lot of them will look great in the Fall when you are thinking about Christmas card pictures. Little boys in red or navy blue polo shirts always look great.

Happy Independence day!

Red, White and Blue Clothing

The Fourth of July is one of those holidays that usually means family-time. It might just be a good opportunity to take some pictures of your family while you are all together and having fun.  Here are some red, white and blue clothing ideas so your family can show their patriotic spirit.  White with different shades of blue is a great base to start with so that you can add in smaller amounts of red.  Note how great the stripes look and it wouldn’t hurt to have lots of American Flags in little hands! It is the 4th so you can go a little crazier than usual with the color. 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July holiday and a week that moves at a slower pace that usual. Enjoy the family-time that you have. Oh, and enjoy the hot dogs too!  Take lots of pictures even if no one ever gets out of their bathing suit!

Gymboree and J. Crew have red, white and blue clothing options for children ever year.  A great place to start for patriotic holidays.
